Calling all chatterboxes: Got something to talk about? Beakerhead wants to hear it at Chinook Blast! Walk or roll on up to Speakerhead, a video talk-back booth that gives Calgarians a chance to sound off on what matters most to them. Draft a letter to the editor in the form of a 60-second clip, inspired by the iconic 90s series Speaker’s Corner (as seen on MuchMusic and City TV).
Choose from a list of guiding questions when you begin, or just let your thoughts flow. Maybe you’ve gotten more comfortable conversing with screens than with humans. Maybe you’re a poet and you don’t even know it. Whatever the case, speak your ideas and let your voice be heard. Don’t forget to share your social media handle(s) and follow @Beakerhead to watch for your potential 15 minutes of fame. And while you’re close by, why not go to the Market?
Speakerhead is a project of Beakerhead, built by the masterminds at RocketHouse, Fracture A Femur Productions, and TechArt Custom Creations. In April 2022, Beakerhead and TELUS Spark joined forces — the most spectacular outreach program a science centre could ever dream of!
ACCESSIBILITY INFO: All are welcome! Free indoor experience. Speakerhead comfortably fits max. 2 people at a time. To support physical access, Speakerhead is outfitted with two tablets for recording — one inside the booth (minimized incline on entry, solid wood bench seating), and one on the outer wall (ground-level access).
