Calling All Calgarians: Be a Part of Chinook Blast 2025 as a Friend of Chinook Blast!
Do you have an exciting vision to create, produce, or contribute to an unforgettable winter experience in Calgary? If so, we invite you to apply for the Friends of Chinook Blast Grant Program and help make Chinook Blast 2025 a truly memorable event!
We are looking for individuals and organizations who want to host events or programs during the festival that embody the winter spirit in Calgary. Whether it’s an artistic performance, sporting event, or a unique live experience, this is your chance to shine! The jury will consider providing funding of up to $5,000 for your event or program.
Notes for performers:
- If you’re a performer, you can also apply to perform at Chinook Blast in addition to this program. You can learn more about it here.
- Olympic Plaza will not be available as a performance venue in 2025. The 2025 Chinook Blast Hub will be along Stephen Avenue (between 1st SE and 3rd St SW), then along 3 St SW (between Stephen Avenue and 4th Avenue). Please take that into consideration as you submit your proposal.

What We’re Looking For:
- Previous Experience: You must have experience in executing and programming arts, sporting, or live experience events. Provide a resume, links to events portfolio, or a detailed description.
- Calgarian Focus: You must be based in Calgary and your event or program must occur within Calgary city limits between the end of January and middle of February 2025.
- Winter Experience Theme: Your event should embrace Calgary’s winter spirit, encouraging the community to bundle up and enjoy the warmth of the festival through indoor and outdoor festivities.
Priority Will Be Given To:
- Events or programs with a large community reach, including high estimated attendance, affordable ticketing, or longer programming duration.
- Events or programs that enhance the vibrancy, diversity, and vitality of Calgary’s arts, sports, and experience sectors, provide broad access for Calgarians.
- Events or programs that activate within the Chinook Blast Hub, along Stephen Avenue (between 1st SE and 3rd St SW), then along 3 St SW (between Stephen Avenue and 4th Avenue), ensuring they enhance the core festival area and maximize engagement with festival-goers.
